1. Does your office take my insurance? What about self-pay?​

We accept most commercial insurance plans. Please check the 'INSURANCE' page for a list of the most commonly accepted companies. Yes, we also accept self-pay clients for those who either don't have insurance or those who have policies that don't cover mental health services.

2. What are your self-pay rates?

Psychotherapy (talk therapy) appointments are $150 (60 minutes)

Medication management appointments are $400 for the initial evaluation (40 - 45 minutes) and $250 for every follow-up appointment (15 - 20 minutes)

3. How long are the appointments typically?

All psychotherapy appointments are about 60 minutes long.

For medication management appointments, the initial evaluation ranges from 40 - 45 minutes long, and the follow-up appointments range from 15 - 20 minutes long.

4. Are appointments only offered in person?

No! So long as your insurance covers it, we also offer telehealth appointments through Zoom.

5. Do I need a referral to make an appointment?

Referrals are not required to make an appointment at either of our locations. However, some insurances require a referral from your PCP (primary care physician) for services to be covered. Please contact your insurance provider to understand the terms of your policy.

6. Can I still make an appointment even if I don't live in Bakersfield or Visalia?

Of course! You do not need to reside in Bakersfield or Visalia to establish care at our office. We see patients from all over California.

7. What age range does your office see?

While our office sees clients as young as 6 years old, every provider has their own preference. For detailed information on our providers, please check the 'OUR PROVIDERS' page.

8. What is your cancellation policy?

We require a 24-hour notice to cancel all appointments. Please be sure to contact the office during business hours if you are not able to make your scheduled appointment to avoid having to pay a cancellation fee.

9. What do I do if I am in crisis?

If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency and are located in Bakersfield, we recommend that you contact Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital at (661) 398-1800, Mary K Shell at (661) 868-8080, or the nearest emergency room. For Visalia, we recommend contacting Kaweah Health Mental Health Hospital at (559) 624-3300 or the nearest emergency room.
